How to grow Oyster mushroom at home |

In today's article we will be seeing how to grow oyster mushroom easily in Home.

We can easily grow oyster mushroom in our home and the temperature required for oyster mushroom is 23 to 28 degree. Read the article  completely to know the entire process from mushroom seed to harvest.
Mushroom have a good nutritive value and they are lean soure of nutrients. Market value  the mushroom varies form 150₹/ kg in winter to above 300₹/kg in summer season. Mushroom is the cold loving fungus and requires temperature less than 28°C .

First thing required for growing oyster mushroom is paddy straw.

Cut the straw into the length of  5 to 15 cm and soak in water for 4 to 8 hours. This process will help the straw to be loose and remove soil from it , ensure that the straw will completely soak the water
Once after soaking drain the water and we need to sterilize the straw in water steam to kill all microorganisms.
Sterilization is very important process in oyster mushroom growing we need to steam the straw till we get the straw smell.
Now the straw is nicely steamed and sterilized straw as to be steamed as shown.
Spread the steamed straw in a shaded clean floor and dry it till the straw moisture became 50 percent now the straw are half dried when you press the straw you should feel the moisture in hand but water should not be in hand, that is the perfect stage.

Now it's time to buy the Spawn of mushroom. It is available in all direct  Mushroom farm shops near your area or you can buy it from Amazon.

Each pack weights 300 grams and cost 40 rs and we will get output of 1.2 kg of oyster mushroom from this single pack of spawn. There are many varieties in oyster mushroom and you can choose any of them.
Next we require 12 * 24 size plastic bag with thickness of 100 microns. You can use normal plastic cover also but using this type of sized cover will give you more yield.

To fill the mushroom in the bag first you have to set it well. Now first open the bag and make blow air in it so that is can open well Now tie the rubber band at the closed side and then turn it upside down so that you get round shape of the bag. Keep the spawn in clean container break the spawn into small small size. Fill the paddy straw one layer of height 5 cm and then add the mushroom spawn 30grams. Add straw 5 cm and then add mushroom spawn one layer like wise fill the whole bag.

We need to use only paddy straw then only we will get high yield , we can also use sugarcane straw or wheat straw but the mushroom yield will be very less.
Last layer add some final spawn and tie the bag. Like wise fill all the bags. We need to hang this in shaded room so tie a wire to the top of the bag. Now for the mushroom to breath we need to make  5 to 12 hole in all sides. First sterilize the equipment that you are using to do hole in the bag, i suggest to use a sterilised pen. Make hole in all sides as then  hang the mushroom bed in a room.  Oyster mushroom need  23 to 28 degree for growing so hang it in a shaded place where the temp will be optimal .
Now the bags are ready to grow mushroom.

We should not spraytoo much water on the bags. Only little spray of the water is to be given to maintain optimum moisture in the bags. After 7 days the Spawn running stag will come and it will grow in 3 weeks and then the mushroom buds starts to pop out. We need to maintain the room clean other wise it may get contaminated with other microorganism. If you place the mushroom bed in dark room it will grow very fast. After 3 weeks now the mushroom mycelim  spread through out the bag. After 20 days in the hole that we made the mushroom bud starts to pop out. At this stage we need to spray fresh water as shown it will help the buds to maintain moisture. We need to spray water in  morning , afternoon and evening at very next day.
Once the mushroom bud pops out from that day it will take 4 days to harvest it will grow very fast at this stage.

We can harvest 3 time from the same mushroom bed.  After harvest we need to spray water and new mushroom will start to grow again. We need to harvest the whole bunch. Mushroom are very rich in protein and very healthy. In a Single bag you can harvested 500 grams of Oyster mushrooms and you will get 2 more harvest from the same bag i,e you will get 1.5 kg mushroom  from each bag. We need to spray water daily for 2,3 harvest. After 3rd harvest is done we can put the mushroom bed in compost bin and make compost.
This is all about the mushroom growing at home with minimum investment.

🙂have a good day!
